I think it is time for an update and get the blog on the road again. It has been a great summer and fall with a lot of caching up and down the Island. A lot of caching on the Geohonda's and mountain bikes.
We even did a group trip to Twassawan to do some caching on the dykes. Had a blast and a great day for it. We managed to get 99 that day and put on over 30 KM's on the bikes. This last month has slowed down in the numbers but getting some great caches , that are out of the way in the hills, lots of great hiking. We even hiked in the hills of Port Renfrew last Sunday in 4 to 8 inches of snow, hard packed. It was a great day for it.
Our Vegas trip is now in place for 2014 and a group of 8 cachers are now ready to go. There are 4 from last years trip, Myself, JuRuu, Cougar Kid & Crkayaker. We have 4 new cachers joining us this year, Sheesh695, Classictwo, Bornwild62 & Losthiker. This year we changed the name to 8-IC (8-Island Cachers). We are all booked and ready to go. We intend to complete the new addition to the ET Hwy series and some new power trails and off to California to do some power trails as well. We are having an event in Ladysmith as a send off, one in Vegas the night we arrive and one in Needles, CA and Barstow, Ca as well. A good way to meet local cachers and anyone that may be travelling in the area. Next week I will be posting all the event GC #'s. We are leaving for Vegas on the 21st Feb. and returning home on Mar. 02, 2014. Stay tuned for more up dates soon.

Well summer is half over and caching has become even more obsessive in a way that is good. With the use of the Geohonda with Coygar Kid, mountain bikes and hiking as well as drive ups, I am rapidly approching the 10,000 cache find. Some of my great caching friends are Cougar Kid, JuRuu and Bigbluemarble along with many others that I cache with from time to time. Have been able to find between 60 and over 100 caches every weekend for months. During the month of August we can get a souvenir for every day cached, I will be taking on that adventure. During the month I am hosting 6 events in the Ladysmith area.
Summer update
Hello All, time to catch up on the Geocaching news. Over the last few months I have been caching a lot on the weekends with Cougar Kid and JuRuu and many other cachers from time to time. The weather has been great for our Geohondas and mountain bikes as well. I am fast approching my 10,000 cache find. A few days ago it was my 3 year mark of caching and it only gets better. There have been so many new caches being released on the north island and have been spending at least one day every weekend on the roads and trails up there..
I was honoured to be part of The GO! Team's wedding party and it was a wonderful and great day. They even had a flash mob picture event.
Princess and I are heading to Oregon for 8 days of R&R and some caching. I am looking forward to doing the first cache outside of Portland. Having an event while we are down in Lincoln City. GC4E1CW
As August is a special month with getting a souviner for every day cache is found, I will attempt to get one every day but it will be a challange having to drive a few KM's some days to find a cache.
I will also be having 6 events on the following dates in Ladysmith.
1- GC4GQWZ- Aug. 14th, 2- GC4GQXH- Aug. 16th, 3- GC4GQY8- Aug. 20th,
4- GC4GQYZ- Aug. 22nd, 5- GC4GQZQ- Aug. 26th, 6- GC4GR0D- Aug. 29th.
Hope to see you all there..
More to come during the trip down the Oregon coast..

Road trip to GCGV0P
We started out quest to find GCGV0P Original Stash Tribute Plaque on Aug. 02 via the ferry to the USA out of Sidney at 1800 hours and arrived at Everett, Wa late that night. I got up fairly early and managed to grab 11 caches near the hotel in the dark and rain to start with. The rain stayed but as the sun rose it got better. Nothing like caching in the dark in the great USA, a little scary.
We set out about 0930 on the 3rd for our quest and the rain is stating to let up and the I5 is bumper to bumper. We stopped at a few rest stops and managed to grab a few caches at each stop.
As we left the I5 towards the OSTP there were about 6 caches that we grabbed on the road to OSTP.
We arrived at the OSTP at 1500 hours on Aug. 03, 2013. It was so great to finally reach this cache after three years since I started caching. It appears that 3 is my lucky number today.
Princess! and I took some pictures and will post later. We opened a can of Pepsi and had a toast.
A great day for us!! We then headed back to Portland to our hotel and out to supper. Princess! wanted to get e little night shopping in so off we went to the mall. It is so weird but someone placed 5 caches in the mall parking lot so I just had to grab those!! So my total cache find for the day was 26. Doing those route PQ's sure is great. I am now 153 away from my 10,000 and hope to reach towards the end of the week. We are having our event in Lincoln City on Wednesday.
Well, it is almost 0530 hours and I am going out to grab a few caches as Princess! is sleeping. About 0730 hours we are going to do a short hike on a power trail before heading to the coast at about 1000 hours. I will do another post in a few days. Happy caching!!

We are now into the great weather for the most part and caching is on the menu as often as possible. Out to Sooke with JuRuu and did some great hiking in the hills, so many great spots that one would never get to. Also went to the west coast with JuRuu and did Tofino and Ucluelet, very long day left at 0400 hours and got home at 2230 hours. What a place to cache, so many nice trails and views. Saw the biggest cedar tree I have ever seen and will post a picture for all to see.
Having an event in Campbell River on Friday, June 21, 2013 as we are up there for the weekend. On Sat. JuRuu and I are heading to Port McNeil for some caching in that town and along the highway as well.
Just short of 9500 now and hope to have 10,000 caches before the end of the year.Hope to get out with Cougar Kid the following weekend on the Geohonda's near Buckley Bay as a whole lot of new caches have been published out there. Happy caching!!

It has been a while since I posted anything and I will be posting a lot more from now on. Since my return form the ET Highway and Route 66 it was back to caching on the Island. I have managed to find about 800 more caches since mid Feb and working towards my 10,000 before the end of the year.
I have been caching a lot in the Oyster River to Campbell River, Victoria and Saltspring Island. I have attended two events and did a Geocaching presentation to the Business element of Chemainus.
All of this caching has been great from hiking on trails, mountain biking on different trails on the Island and Saltspring Island. I have also cached in my local area as new caches are published. I have also done a lot of caching with Cougar Kid on our Geohonda's, it sure gets us to places that a truck or car can not go.
I have been out caching with Cougar Kid, JuRuu, Mike & Lily, Fordfender and LifeAboveAll, Quilt Carver, Classictwo and have seen many cachers along the trail as well as a lot new cachers.
Princess! and I have our PP series which now consist of 120 caches and more will be added soon as it is being well received. Also being added will be a special blend into the series called PPBW which will consist of 12 caches of a much higher rating with a special ending. Each cache will have a clue to the final which will be called PPOYIL which will be a 5/5.
Looking forward to Caching the Oregon coast with Princess! this early Aug. and doing the oldest cache along the way.

It is March 23rd, 2013 and it certainly been a challange since my return with the weather, snow, rain and wind, not to mention work. I have managed to do some caching on the mountain bike and the Geohonda. I have also been to East Sooke park where JuRuu and I hiked 7 hours with some very heavy elevation. It was a little hard on the legs but managed to find 40 caches that trip encountering rain, snow and heavy cold winds for part of the day.
Cougar Kid and I have been out on the Geohondas several times and have seen some great views and grabbing a few older caches around and several that have not been found for some time. I think the weather should be turning soon and hope to head deeper and higher into the mountains to find those caches that are not found too often and have been on my radar for some time.
Only 225 caches away from my 9000 find but having to travel further and further away from home to get any good numbers in a day. It makes for a better challange and a great way to visit new area as well.
A few events are coming up in April and May and looking forward to seeing all my fellow cachers.
Heading out with Cougar Kid today to do some more Geohonda caching today, should be a warmer day.
Will post in a few weeks. Geocaching My Way of Life..Paulboy

Back on the Island
Just a quick note to everyone, as we all arrived back on the Island, we are are all back to the grind of work, caching after work and on the weekends. Nice to see so many new caches on the island since we left for our Adventure. Have been hiking the mountains, out with cougar Kid on our Geocycles. Helping Princess! with her power trail, adding more as the snow melts in the hills.
We are starting to look at another trip for next year for places unknown or are they?
Heading to Campbell River on Friaday night and will be caching with crkayker on Sat. on the logging roads. Hopefully it will be a nice day but love caching in the rain anyway!
Managed to grab a FTF at 0500 hours this morning and another that was missing but the CO replaced it. Love caching in the dark before work sort of make ones day!
I will be posting every 14 days or so about different geocaching Adventures.

Tuesday Feb. 12, 2013
After 5 long days and about 2500 cach finds and many many Km's on the road and many Km's of hiking we had arrived back in Vegas. It was an experience that we will all remember for ever. We visited many hotels, resturants and out of the way places. We encounter rain, snow, sun shine and heavy winds while driving and hiking. Our days were long and we went until exhaustion set in yet we laughed all the time. In the resturants we laughed so hard and long.
What a great group of people to spend 6 days cching with in this wondeerful place. We also bumped into a few cachers but not too many. Always nice to see other cachers while on the road.
This brought us to day 5 and after cleaning out the vans at a car wash that evening and a quick supper it was off to bed as we had to get up at 0345 hours for a 0400 hours start to California to start the Route 66. Three members of the team opted out so they could take in the sights of Vegas. So Postie Bear, Just Leafy and Shadowcaster enjoyed the day in Vegas.
The rest of the team all met, Paulboy, Cougar Kid, bigbluemarble, crkayker, JuRuu and seekandsail headed of to Califorina and arrived two hours later at the Bagdad Cafe. What can I say about this place, WOW,a whole different place but certainly fun and the food was great. A whole different place that goes way back in time. Really enjoyed all the old trivia and the people.
So we started out doing the Route 66 about 0740 hours and off went. We managed to find all the caches and only had one minor problem. JurRu turned over a rock to find a small radle snake coiled around the cache container. We took some pictures before helping it on it's way as we had caching to do. This part of the trip was so great with so many old businesses just left there to tor away. I suppose at some time they were all thriving businesses. The day was really sunny so it made it a pleasent day. We did encounter a snow storm on the pass out of Las Vegas towars California but it did not last long.
We completed the Route 66 at about 1700 hours and then drove to Arazona to grab 2 caches there before having supper at a local place near the border. It was a little bar and cafe in Oatman, CA and the food was great. We laughed so loud they thought we were all crazy Canadian, and we were..LOL
After eating we decide to head back to Vegas via Highhway 95 to Kingman then on to Highway 93 which took two hours. A nice pleasant drive back to Vegas arriving at in Vegas at 2100 hours. A very long had day but so wonderful to enjoy it with great company.
We managed to grab about 850 cache finds today. Our biggest day to date. In total we have found over 3300 caches in 6 days. The final numbers are yet to be dertermined..
This trip is the highlight of my Geocaching adventures and had a wonderful time with friends for Campbell River to Victoria and those that live in between.
Bigbluemarble, Postie Bear and crkayker are in the air and myself, JuRuu and Cougar Kid are at the airport leaving and Skadowcaster, Just Leafy and seekandsail leave later today. As we part, I thank all the team for such a great week and help in making my dream come true.

Back to Vegas
Hello All,
We had breakfast this morning and headed out about 0900 hours to do the ET Space Ship and a few other caches in the area. After hiking all that we headed towards Vegas. We did several small power trails on the way as well as a few caches here and there along the way. The weather was great and the roads were snowless all the way. We even got to climb a small rock outcrop 200 feet up, what a great view. We arrived in Vegas about 1730 and booked into the hotel then off to a car wash to detail the cars, it took about 2 hours to do both of them. Then we came back to the hotel to grab supper and it is off to bed because we are leaving here at 0400 to do Route 66 in California. Yesterday and today, we managed to grab about 250 caches each day. One day left.
Thanks for you comments and happy caching to all.

Much to do about the numbers
Saturaday Feb. 09, 2013
Today was a totally different caching day then the last three. We started out inTonapah with a great breakfast in the local hotel and off we went towards Rachel. We did caches along the way until we reached the Alien Head and then we booked into our hotel and had lunch. We then went out and did a power trail across for the ETHead and then we did the ETHead. We also did a lot of the local caches in Racheal and some at night as well. We did a lot of hiking today and it was a great day for it, not too much wind and the sun was out.
There was a lot of snow in Tonopah but the roads were good so the driving was not a problem. The mountains were full of snow all around us. But once we arrived near Rachel it was all clear.
We all returned to the hotel did a Whereigo, a muli, regular, earth cache, mystery and a puzzle in the dark. A great time had by all.
We are all having supper and setting the route for tomorrow.
As I am getting a little tired now I will cut it short for tonight. Stay tuned for my blog tomorrow night.

I had a dream
Friday February 08, 2013
Let me tell you about today, it started at 0600 and we all jumped into the vans and off to breakfast we went but nothing open here at 0600 hours. As we had to gas up we went to the local gas bar where we were offered breakfast cooked by the gas jockey. The out come was better that we though but those that drank coffee were not impressed..
Once we gassed up, off we went to finish off the ETH. We figured we would be about 7 hours as long as all went as planned. The extreme snow warning was issued but we are cachers and a little snow has never stopped us. It ended up being about -10 in the morning and went to the 0 mark through out the day but it snowed at times with heavy winds.. Todays Adventure took us about 300Km's and it was a lot slower than we expected because of the cold and the long distance of travel between some of the roads. On a few of them we had to back track 38 KM's to continue on.
Over all it was a great day with so many laughs and so much fun as the CIA team is really coming together as it should on a great trip like this.
Lots of videos and pictures were taken and there will be a lot of them posted later on when we get home. It has been to hard to log the cache finds as we go along so that is our next big job once we are home as well.
Today brought us only 590 cache finds but we did expect that as it was much slower and the best ever came to be, I had a dream and it came true today. The ET Highway is now complete by Team CIA!!!
We took some great pictures and lots of hugging and cheering, yelling and we all signed the log.
What a great felling it was. In total we have managed to grab 2105 caches in three days, man is that going to be hard to beat next time I go caching for three days. As both other days, many personal records have been broken.
The trip today took us 11 hours in total and on the way back to town it was again way below 0 and heavy winds and snowing like New Brunswick! Our plans may have to be put on hold in the morning if it continues as there is 2 inches of snow on the ground now.
If the roads are good we plan on heading to Rachael to do the ET Head and ET Space ship as well as others.
I will post a new blog tomorrow night if we do not get taken to the mother ship by tractor beam!
Congrats to my little Sis (Indynb) for getting her 300 cache find in NB!
There is a video for you to watch.

I will post a new blog tomorrow night if we do not get taken to the mother ship by tractor beam!
Congrats to my little Sis (Indynb) for getting her 300 cache find in NB!
There is a video for you to watch.

Good evening fellow cachers and friends. Today was a 0600 hour start again but in Alamo, it takes about an hour for breakfast at a fast food place. Once we ate it was on the road for over an hour to start at ET-626 and off we went. It was sunny but cold with a lot of ice on the water holes and sides of the road. Once we arrived we had a blast with a quick stop at Racheal for a five minute picture taking session. Then it was off to caching again in our dusty vans. Today was a great day for numbers as we did 5 non ETH caches and 820 ETH caches stopping at ET-1441 before heading back to Toonpah. About noon we had to return to Tonopah to get more gas which took about an hour and a half away from caching. But that is the way it had to be done this trip. We saw a lot of wild horses and cows today and we did not get buzzed by a jet today, man that was loud.
About 40 minutes into caching I was on run duty and when I returned to the van I jumped in and hit my head on the door and I have been told I was out cold for about 10 + seconds. A quick check by our CIA nurse and a few pills, we were off again.. Nice little bump on my head..
Once we logged out last find for the day it was slightly dark and very cold. After supper we grabbed tow caches in the dark, this was so funny to see nine cachers in a strange town out of country with each a flashlight looking for small caches. It did not take too long before they were in hand.
The hotel manager informed us it may snow tonight and tomorrow with up to 18 incehs of snow. As we are staying here tomorrow it may be winter caching like my kid sis in NB..
We are all having a blast and love the great adventure. The team all get along and laughter is the code of the day.. Stay tuned for tomorrow nights blog.

Hello from the ET Highway and beyond. We started out about 0620, a little late but off we went and after about an hour and a half later we arrived near GZ for ET-001. We did five caches leading up to ET-001 and got started about 1000 hours at ET-001. It was a great warm day and clear skys. We were four in one van and five in the other. As we began we had drivers, runners and log signers and switched different duties as the day went on. We would stop from time to time to have a break and more laughs as well as food and more laughs. Over all we managed to get to ET-625 by 1700 hours and called it a day as it got cold real fast and the sun was setting. We drove back to Alamo and booked into the Alamo Inn and then gassed up the cars and left the dust inside them for now. The rental company is not going to be happy. We went out to a Mexican restaurant and on the way back we all went out and grabbed one cache here. I wanted to do a few more but everyone is too tired. In total we managed to grab 632 caches today, we hope to do better tomorrow with an early start at 0600 hours. Got to love this caching and so many records broken today for everyone. I will post more tomorrow night..

The CIA have landed
It is Tuesday and we have all arrived in good order. Once we picked up the vans and all the members arrived, off we went shopping for supplies and then to the event. The event was a hugh turn out, some from Ontario, and all over the states. Clay4 attended with his ET coins and we gave him a CIA T-shirt. What a blast we had. After the event JuRuu, bigbluemarble and crkakyer went out to do a few caches until after 11pm. It was great to walk around in our T-shirts caching.
We are getting ready to leave for the ETH at 0600 and the start of our adventure..Paulboy

CIA are on the move!!
Well today starts the beginning of our CIA Adventure. seekandsail and Just Leafy and Shadowcaster of
The GO! Team are heading out to Vegas today. The rest of us all leave tomorrow morning and by 1700 hours we should have all landed for our delighful entrance to the USA!
Once we arrive in Vegas we will be splitting into two groups, one picking up fellow CIA members and a few of us are off to Walmart to purchase all our supplies for the ETH and beyond. Once all that is done it is off to the event we are hosting. After the event, I think a few of us will take in the lights on the strip and grab a few caches to get us going for the morning.. Stay tuned for more info as we start of in the morning.
Yesterday I filled my full Geocalendar and along with Princess and Cougar Kid we headed off to find the 365/366 challange cache which we found promply. It was a great way to finish off caching here and get ready for the ETH..\

Tic Tic Tic, The Countdown
As the clock is ticking down, we are getting closer to arriving in Vegas to start our Adventure.
This past weekend, a milestone was reached by one of our CIA team members, Cougar Kid.
Princess! and I met him at Witchcraft Lake in Nanaimo to grab two new caches and on the first cache, he completed his Geocalander, there by allowing him to grab the 365/366 cache in the near future. Congats on your milestone. Cougar Kid has decided to wait on the finding 365/366 cache as this coming weekend, I will reach my milestone 365/366 Geocalander as well. Then when we get back from the CIA Adventure we will find this cache together.
A fellow cacher asked if we would be doing some night caching while we were there. I do not know if we will do any while driving yet, but it looks like we will be some at/near and around the hotels we are staying at in Alamo, Rachael, Tonopah and Vegas. How many will depand on how tired we are. Stay tuned for daily updates as we begin our adventure. Geocaching My Way of Life...Paulboy

CIA Director
Now that we have our date for the CIA Adventure, I started with the itinerary for our 6 day road trip. All the team made their arrangements to get to Las Vegas, some travelling on their own and others in teams. We all arrive in Las Vegas on the 5th Feb. That seemed to be the easy part. Then I booked the hotels for all of us in Alamo, Racheal and Tonapah. Mini vans were rented.
The itinerary consisted of a list of what we all needed, what times we would leave in the morning and return to the hotels at night. From there I decided that we are so close and if time permits we will all drive to do Route 66 in California on the 6th day. This may prove to be our longest day but time will tell.
Once the vans are picked up at the airport, Cougar Kid will pick up some of the team while a few of us head out to buy extra gas cans and gas along with water, first aid, ice coolers and food for the team.
Once we have all arrived and in the hotel, Shadowcaster of The GO! Team has put on an event and to date many of the local cachers are attending as well as Clay4 who is the CO of the ET Highway. Looking forward to starting off our adventure with an event.
On Jan. 19, I hosted an event in Ladysmith where almost 60 cachers attended to meet and greet and chat about the CIA Adventure. Diraduck and Two Grands informed us of a fellow cacher and friend that was ill and needed our help so a fun raiser was very successful.
The big question was how many caches will we do per day. Well that will have to wait as we have no idea at this time but you can all read about it once the adventure begins.
As I emailed out different information to the team, I mentioned that I sounded like a General in the Army and I was reminded the by seekandsail that the head of the CIA is the Director, not a General.
It is always strange how these titles come about. Only 15 days to go. Paulboy

How the CIA came about
Since I started caching on July 27, 2010 I soon I begin to hear about the ET Highway and once I got my bearing, I started to look at the caches in that area and thought that I would do that Highway some day.
About 10 months ago I thought I would put a team together and see if I could make this a reality. I spoke to Cougar Kid and Shadowcaster of The GO! Team and then bigbluemarble and JuRuu and picked a date. I also had 4 other cachers that were interested but with new jobs and work, it was a problem for them so they decided to not go.
Now that we had a team, I came up with the name Canadian Island Aliens and then it all came together, Area 51- CIA and our name was born. We decided that it would be a great idea to have t-shirts made.
A week later I got and email from Shadowcaster that he had designed a pathtag for all of us and after a few emails back and forth, he had it all done and ordered. Now we also had a design for our t-shirts.
A fellow cacher told me seekandsail was interested in going and after a few emails, he was on board as well. I did some caching for a day in Campbell river with crkayker and after telling her what I was planning and a few more emails, she was on board. Now were were 8 but then Shadowcaster said that his dad just started caching and he was interested as well. Now we are a team of nine and we are complete.
This CIA adveture is now slated for begin on Feb.06 2013 in Vegas at 0600 hours.
More info about the prep and details will follow in a few days.
